Ronald Cormier is a member of St. Ignatius Parish in Somersworth New Hampshire. He has been involved in catechetical and liturgical ministry for close to 35 years, both on the parish and diocesan level. Having earned a BA degree in history at Nasson College in 1980, Ron went on to study theology and church history at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland for four years. During his time there, he received the ministries of Lector and Acolyte. After leaving the seminary, he taught religion, American history and business at Mater Dei High School in Middletown, New Jersey for two years before returning home to Somersworth.

Ron has been involved in catechetical ministry for many years. He has taught religious education at all grade levels and is currently engaged in teaching ninth grade Confirmation preparation classes. He has been a catechist in the RCIA process for over 13 years in both the Parish of the Assumption in Dover, St. Ignatius Parish in Somersworth and St. Mary’s Parish in Rollinsford. He was a member of the Diocesan Catechumenate Steering Committee for eight years and helped to coordinate and present workshops on the Catechumenate Process throughout the Diocese. Ron’s catechetical work also includes an adult study group in the parish which has covered such topics as the mystery and meaning of the Mass, an overview of the Bible in church history, the church’s biblical documents and an in-depth study of Genesis. Ron serves as the parish master of ceremonies which includes the catechesis and training of altar servers from grades 4 to 12 as well as assisting in the formation of liturgical ministers and the parish Liturgy Committee. Ron served on the Diocesan Pastoral Council, having been appointed by Bishop McCormack in 2006 and serving two 3 year terms. Ron is currently employed as a cataloger at the Dimond Library at UNH.
